Schuster battling to keep Real Madrid job after Copa shock

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster is battling for his job after last night's Copa del Rey humiliation.

Being thrown out of tthe cup at home by little Real Union has left the Madrid board exasperated - and Schuster looking over his shoulder.

AS says an informal meeting was held among directors - including president Ramon Calderon - after the 4-3 victory.

It was agreed if Real are beaten by Valladolid on Saturday that "it would force us to take more drastic measures because we cannot continue like this".

Real director Miguel Angel Portugal has already been tapped on the shoulder about succeeding Schuster in a caretaker capacity.
