Javier Saviola has revealed that he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid in the winter transfer window, and still holds out hope of earning a regular place in the team.
Argentine international Javier Saviola has played just 56 minutes for Real Madrid this season, after only playing a bit-part role last term - but he is determine not to leave the Bernabéu.
Real coach Bernd Schuster has often over-looked Saviola and spoken about needing to sign a new striker, and the player himself admits that it is a difficult position for him.
"In January I do not want to go anywhere unless the club think I should. You have too look ahead and try to work out what is best for you," Marca quote Saviola as saying.
"I will talk to the coach, but right now I am not considering that. I still have the ambition to make it here."
"We have talked quite often and I have always told him [Schuster] of my strong desire to play. It is hard for a player when you spend so much time without playing. It begins to affect you."
"The situation that I am in is not great. I want to play, to be out there and to help the team. But the coach does not consider me and I have to face reality."
"I just hope that I am given a few minutes to prove what I can do for the team."
Saviola is set to be given a chance to prove himself in the Copa del Rey encounter againt Real Unión in midweek, and he is looking forward to the challenge.
"Every player works hard to make the coach have faith in them. At the moment that is difficult for me, but I am not going to lose hope," he continued.
"You never know when a chance will come along."
"The cup game could be great for me and to give me a chance to show what I can do, and I hope I can do my best."
Saviola also revealed that he has not given up hope of impressing Diego Maradona and making a return to the national team in the future.
"I had the chance to play for my national team under various coaches, and I am proud to do so whenever I can. I hope I can return to the squad," he added.
