Sand rejects Real rumours

Real Madrid have dismissed rumours that they are considering an attempt to sign Schalke 04's Danish striker Ebbe Sand.

Sand, who is currently enjoying a few days holiday, told reporters today: "I haven't heard anything about Real Madrid wanting to sign me. I'm happy at Schalke and my intention is to carry on in Germany."

Meanwhile, Real are set to begin negotiating with Juventus for France international midfielder Zinedine Zidane. Reports from Italy claim that Juve are keen to take on Claude Makelele should Zizou accept the Merengues' offer.

Zidane's agent Alain Migalaccio stressed on Monday that the final decision will rest with Juve, who may want to hang on to the player.
