Salgado lost £4M in choosing Real Madrid over Chelsea

Real Madrid fullback Michel Salgado has revealed he turned down an extra £4 million from Chelsea to re-sign with his Spanish club.

Salgado earns £1.6m annually at Real. Chelsea offered to raise that to £2.5m a year, but he preferred to stay put.

He said: "I think it would be very difficult to move to another country. The culture in England is very different."

"I am very settled and love my lifestyle in Spain, so this is another reason why I have made the best decision."
