Sacked Newcastle boss Robson wanted by Real Madrid

Sacked Newcastle United boss Sir Bobby Robson has been sent an SOS by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.

The Sun says Real have sounded him out over a swan-song stint in charge at the Bernabeu.

And Robson would find it impossible to turn down the job - even if it is only until the end of the season.

President Florentino Perez wants a respected coach to restore order after Jose Camacho quit this week following a player revolt against him.

Goalkeeping coach Mariano Garcia Remon is in charge for now but Perez doubts he has the experience to oversee their Champions League campaign.

Perez has drawn up his own shortlist - including Sven Goran Eriksson, Ottmar Hitzfeld, Marcelo Bielsa and Vicente Del Bosque.

But Robson, 71, is being considered as the man to steady Real until Perez can secure a long-term replacement.
