Sacchi: Real Madrid right to sell Owen to Newcastle

Real Madrid general manager Arrigo Sacchi insists they were right to sell striker Michael Owen to Newcastle United.
 
With Ronaldo sidelined with injury, the decision to sell Owen has come under scrutiny, but Sacchi said: "The comparison isn't valid because Owen was not a first-choice centre-forward."

"He was a second forward who could score goals, but he never was first-choice. Nor was he powerful enough to lead the line nor was he a player who dragged central defenders around."

"Owen was a good partner for Ronie, not his substitute. The operation with Newcastle was good for all, including Michael."
