Sacchi: I wasn't Real Madrid failure

Arrigo Sacchi insists he did not fail in his job as Real Madrid general manager.
 
Sacchi held a media conference yesterday to confirm his departure on December 31 to return home to Italy.

"By the way the club tried to convince me to stay," said Sacchi, "I do not feel a failure."

"To leave is very difficult. I've lost prestige and a lot of money."

He added: "It hurts to leave at this time. The club is paying for a change in trainer. We must be tightknit and self-critical. When things don't work out, it's not the fault of one person, we all have a collective responsibility."
