Sacchi approves Real Madrid's Robinho signing

Real Madrid general manager Arrigo Sacchi has already been involved in his first signing for the club.

As details over contracts were being ironed out on Monday, Sacchi was consulted by president Florentino Perez about the imminent signing of Santos winger Robinho.

The Italian gave his approval, saying the capture of Robinho would prove a huge success for Real Madrid.

At the same time, negotiations were being held by Santos officials and Real's moneymen to secure Robinho's transfer. Talks are now at an advanced stage, with the youngster set to arrive in Madrid for July 2005.
