Rummenigge Denies Real Madrid Offer For Franck Ribery
The Spanish club are yet to formalise their interest in the Frenchman
Bayern Munich executive chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has rejected reports that Real Madrid have made an offer for Franck Ribery.
Reports in Bild earlier today suggested that Bayern Munich had rejected a €64 million offer lodged by Real Madrid.
However, Rummenigge has now blasted such rumours, indicating that the only offer the club have received so far did not even come from Madrid.
"To Bayern only one offer has arrived, but it did not come from Real Madrid," Rummenigge is quoted by AS as saying.
The German paper also claimed that Bayern had set an €80m price-tag on Ribery, which Rummenigge has now firmly denied.
"We are not selling him," he claimed. "What we want is to keep him. Madrid have asked us many times to initiate talks, but we have not opened that door."
To Rummenigge, the fact that the club's posture is not to Ribery's liking does not change anything.
"We have to defend Bayern's interests," he concluded.
