Ronaldo will stay with Real Madrid

Ronaldo will play for Real Madrid next season.

The Brazilian international has been asked by Real management to take up dual nationality in 2005 - and he has agreed.

Ronaldo will gain a Spanish passport for season 2005/06 and in doing so allays any doubts over his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real want Ronaldo to take up dual nationality to give them more flexibility in the transfer market regarding non-EU players.

Countryman Roberto Carlos is already in the process of gaining his Spanish citizenship, though that isn't due until February 2005 at the earliest.
