Ronaldo Reflects On "Saddest Day Since Joining Real"

Real Madrid star Ronaldo has admitted to being depressed since his team were sent spiraling out of the Champions League semfinals by Juventus earlier this week.

"Without a doubt that was the saddest day since I joined Real Madrid. It was made worse by the fact I could not really help the team," said the Brazilian marksman, who was only brought on as a second-half substitute due to just barely having passed a fitness-test ahead of the game.

During the discussion with Spanish newspaper 'AS', Ronaldo also defended his coach Vincente Del Bosque while at the same time heaping praise on Juve.

"It is the norm for a coach to come under fire following a negative result," opined the former Inter star. "This defeat is not a disaster. Juventus are a world class team. If we had lost against a second division side then that would have been bad, but certainly not like this."

Ronaldo is expected to be out for two weeks due to having aggravated his left thigh injury during the course of the defeat but insists that Del Bosque was right to risk him.

"It was not a gamble to let me play so soon after the first injury," he continued. "The game was too important and was worth the risk. We had agreed to play around thirty minutes as I was not in any condition to see out the entire second half."
