Ronaldo insists: Morientes and I are good friends

In his first official media conference, Ronaldo dispelled some of the concerns surrounding his arrival at Real Madrid.

On his long-term knee problems, the Brazilian said: "My knee is fine, I demonstrated this in the World Cup and I am going to continue demonstrating it here for those who have doubts."

"I am eager to demonstrate how I am and what I can do."

On reports that his presence has unsettled Real's star-studded change-room, Ronaldo said: "Figo has said to me that the players are close and a very good-natured squad."

"I am going to integrate 100 per cent, and to try to be one of them."

""I know almost all of them. I have many friends here."

"With Figo and Celades I played a year, and with Robert Carlos and Flavio I have been involved with the Brazilian team."

"I do not believe that I am going to have problems making friends and hope that they all help me in the beginning."

On his relationship with striker Fernando Morientes, he added, "Morientes stayed here and now we are friends. In competition, the one who is best will play."

"At a club like Real Madrid it is important to have two important players in each position so that they remain motivated."
