Two different permutations of the transfer would set off several other European moves, or the deal could collapse.
One version has Real, after selling Fernando Morientes to Barcelona, sending a straight cash offer to Inter Milan for the newly crowned world champion.
Subsequently, the Nerazzurri would contract Lazio striker Hernan Crespo as Ronaldo’s replacement.
Inter striker Bernardo Corradi would head to Rome along with £16 million.
On the other hand, Los Merengues could ship cash, Morientes and Pedro Munitis to San Siro, whereupon Inter would retail Morientes to Barca themselves to finance a Crespo plunder.
Details may not be announced until Sunday or Monday, however, Italian news agency ANSA reported that Crespo’s Inter pact was registered with Lega Calcio before the cut-off.
