Ronaldo admits: I should be playing for Arsenal

Ronaldo has admitted he could join the Premiership, thanks to the influence of Real Madrid teammate Steve McManaman.

The Brazilian superstar was heavily criticised by trainer Vicente del Bosque this week, sparking speculation that a rift is developing between the player and Real's coaching staff.

De Bosque said, "All my players, except one, are committed to working for the team."

"There is only one who stands out from that, Ronaldo."

"As a coach, if you are happy with somebody behaving like that because he thinks he is a star then fine. If not, you find someone else who follows team rules."

"Ronaldo is like a little self-governing island all to himself within our squad."

"He has not made Real Madrid worse - but he has not improved it, either."

Ronaldo also said this week, "Steve has told me many times that, in England, I would score goals for fun."

"Arsenal are one of the great, traditional English clubs so perhaps I should go and play for them."

"The idea of taking my career to the Premiership is very attractive."

"I know a lot about English football and admire the achievements of Arsenal and Manchester United."
