Ronaldinho's Future Could Be Resolved On Friday

Manchester United could know by Friday if they have succeeded in their efforts to sign their prime transfer target Ronaldinho.

The World Cup winner, 23, is due to hold talks with his current club Paris St Germain this week following Brazil's exit from the Confederations Cup last night.

Ronaldinho, who was sent off in Brazil's final game of the tournament – a 2-2 draw with Turkey – has been linked with moves to United, Real Madrid and Barcelona, while PSG insist they want to keep the player in Paris.

But United are now favourites to secure Ronaldinho's signature, and his agent and brother Roberto Assis has again hinted that the player would prefer a move to Old Trafford.

Assis said that while PSG are still keen to keep Ronaldinho for another season, talks to determine his future should be concluded on Friday.

"Ronaldinho is arriving in Paris tonight after Brazil's elimination from the Confederations Cup, and as we said before we will begin negotiations once the competition was over for Brazil," Assis said on Tuesday.

"We will talk with the Paris St Germain president tomorrow, and negotiations will continue until Friday."

"We want the talks to be done in a calm and formal way out of respect for the clubs involved."

"PSG want the player to stay because he is a good player, and he has shown that on the pitch. Of course, Ronaldinho has several important clubs interested in him - and that is very tempting, even though he has a comfortable life in Paris."

"Ronaldinho would be very happy to play for Manchester United. Every good payer wants to join a team like Manchester. We are happy that a team like them has shown an interest in Ronaldinho."

Barcelona have already having admitted that both United and Real have outbid them, while Madrid's interest appears to have cooled since they secured David Beckham.
