Roma's Totti to miss Real match

Italy playmaker Francesco Totti has been left out of AS Roma's squad for their Champions League match against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Also omitted was Roma's leading striker this season Vincenzo Montella as coach Luigi Del Neri gave chances to several younger players.

Roma are bottom of Group B and eliminated from European competition. Del Neri has already said he has little interest in the game against Real.

Real must beat Roma to guarantee a place in the knockout phase of the competition.

In the absence of their leading trio, Roma will most likely start with a strike partnership of Marco Delvecchio and 20-year-old Daniele Corvia, who has yet to hit the target for the club in 10 appearances.

Totti cannot play in Serie A this weekend due to suspension.
