Roger behind Real Madrid talks with Arsenal boss

Talks between Real Madrid and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger yesterday were organized by controversial French agent Marc Roger.

Roger has been banned by Arsenal officials from their training HQ with the club still upset at Nicolas Anelka's move to Real over four years ago.

Wenger spent four hours in talks with Real president Florentino Perez and sports chief Jorge Valdano last Friday.

Real have offered Wenger a contract worth £2.5 million-a-year. The Frenchman still has two years left on his Arsenal deal.

Asked about the speculation, Arsenal released the following statement: "Arsene himself has reiterated his commitment to the club on a number of occasions and we see no reason to pass further comment on the subject."
