Robson, Koeman among 17 enquires for Real Madrid job

Sixteen hours passed between Jose Antonio Camacho offering his resignation to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and the board accepting it.

In that time, Real sports director Emilio Butragueno and Perez received no less than 17 enquiries from agents representing some of the biggest names in management.

Names like Luiz Felipe Scolari, Sir Bobby Robson, Carlos Bianchi, Marcelo Bielsa, Hugo Sanchez, Ottmar Hitzfeld, Ronald Koeman, Sven Goran Eriksson and Alberto Zaccheroni were all offered to Real directors as news broke of Camacho's resignation.

But Perez handed the coaching post to Mariano Garcia Remon and is insistent that the appointment is not simply a stop-gap.
