Robinho Sets Lofty Targets For 2008

Robinho wants to make the New Year even better than the old one as he aims to help Real Madrid to retain the Spanish title and win the Champions League.The Brazilian knows precisely what his ambitions for 2008 are and was not slow in highlighting the success that he has enjoyed over the past 12 months.

After tasting success with Madrid and Brazil at the end of last term, Robinho has raised the bar and is now aiming to help his club become champions of Europe.

"I know exactly what I want to happen in 2008. I just want to win the Champions League as it is the only major honour that I have not won," he explained.

"I am happy with the way 2007 has gone. It has been a good year."

"I have won various trophies and I am pleased with the way that I have played. I won the league with Real Madrid at the end of a difficult season and that was the best way."

"Then I went to play for the national team in the Copa América. We were not considered to be the favourites and we played some great football."

"I won the Copa América and I finished as the top goalscorer in the competition. So, things have not gone too badly as I have won two trophies and one personal award."

Robinho is confident that if Madrid can stay in the same form after the festive break that they enjoyed before it then they will add to their trophy haul.

"We ended the year with great success. We won at Barcelona and we managed to create a gap of seven points. We are in great form," he continued.

"In 2008 we have to continue in the same way and that will allow us to go on an win the league. I hope we can also win the Champions League."
