Robinho Has Always Behaved Well - Codina

Jordi Codina believes that if Robinho wanted to leave Real Madrid and the club were willing to sell him then that should be an end to the matter.

Los Merengues' third-choice goalkeeper spoke to the media after a training session on Wednesday that saw several first-team players absent on international duty.

Robinho's departure has dominated the sports headlines in Spain since Monday night, but Codina sees no problem with the way that the Brazilian or the club behaved throughout.

"He decided that it was best for him to leave and the club agreed, so we have to respect both positions. But it is an important loss," the custodian said.

"(Manchester City) offered Robinho a contract and a plan that he liked and he accepted that and decided to go there and join the club. If he and the club felt that was what was best then that is that."

"He has always behaved correctly and was always happy and making jokes. I felt that he was fine. The last time I saw him we spoke and he told me he wanted to go and said goodbye."

Looking ahead to the rest of the season at Madrid, Iker Casillas's understudy explained that he feels that due to so few changes to the squad they can enjoy more success.

"Last year we had a very good squad and we continue along that road. We were successful last season and I expect us to be again this time around," he continued.

"We have 24 players and the whole Real Madrid Castilla side to choose from, and any one of them can step up and help us out."

"The squad is very similar to that of last season and last year we won the league and this year we already have the Super Cup under our belts."
