Robinho going nowhere, insist Real Madrid

Ramon Calderon, the Real Madrid president, has insisted that the Brazilian forward Robinho remains a big part of the club's future plans.

Recent reports in the Spanish press have suggested that Robinho might be on his way out of the Bernabeu to join Chelsea.

Indeed, Vagner Ribeiro, the player's representative, was quoted last week as saying that the Stamford Bridge club had upped their interest in the player since his fellow countryman, Luiz Felipe Scolari, became Chelsea's new manager.

There have also been rumours that Robinho would be used as a makeweight by Madrid in their attempts to prise Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

But Calderon said: "We have the intention to make very few changes, neither on arrivals nor departures.

"The squad is young, and it is strong. There are no direct negotiations at the moment for the exit of Robinho."
