Robinho confident of recovering form for World Cup finals

Real Madrid forward Robinho is confident he will be back on top of his game in time to join Brazil's bid for a sixth World Cup triumph.

"I am not worried by my dip in form because I am confident in my football and in what I can do," Robinho told Spanish daily El Mundo on Friday.

"I have high hopes for the World Cup and the coach has shown faith with me up to now, though I recognise nothing is certain."

"I know it will be difficult because Brazil have many good players, but I am ready to participate and to help Brazil win their sixth World Cup."

The 21-year-old, a fixture in Carlos Alberto Parreira's Brazil squad, has come under fire from Real fans recently after failing to live up to the expectations created with his $30 million signing from Santos in August.

An impressive debut on the opening day of the season against Cadiz has quickly been forgotten as his confidence has withered and his dazzling ball skills have faded from view.

He has only managed two goals in 13 league and five Champions League appearances prompting some fans to turn on the player who had been touted as the club's most important signing this year.

"This isn't the first time this has happened to me," Robinho added, referring to his experiences in Brazil.

"In 2002 I started I started very well but a series of bad performances had everyone saying I was failing to realise my potential."

"Afterwards we (Santos) bounced back and ended up champions and everyone forgot about the earlier criticisms. It will be the same at Real."

Real are sixth in the Primera Liga, six points behind leaders Barcelona. The World Cup finals kick off in Germany on June 9.
