Roberto Carlos to miss Bolivia match

Real defender Roberto Carlos will not star for Brazil in their World Cup qualifier against Bolivia due to tendinitis in his right knee.

He damaged tendons in his knee on October 24 when Real met Anderlecht in the Champions League, and has been told to take a three-week rest from the game.

The 28-year-old left-back missed out on Sunday's grudge match between Real and Barcelona, despite complaining that he would have been able to complete the full 90 minutes.

Real's medical team met with representatives from the Brazilian Football Federation on Monday afternoon to discuss the player's situation.

It was agreed that Brazil will have to make do without the player for Wednesday's game, but have arranged to meet again once the game has been played to decide whether the defender can play in Brazil's next game against Venezuela on November 14.
