Roberto Carlos helps Brazil

Brazil qualified for the World Cup on Wednesday night with Roberto Carlos completing a full 90 minutes in the 3-0 win over Venezuela.

The decision to field Roberto Carlos angered Real Madrid's medical team, who maintain that the player still has not fully recovered from a knee injury.

The Real left-back has been out of action since sustaining tendon trouble late last month and his cautious game against Venezuela last night did little to indicate that he is over his knee problems.

The normally offensive wing back hardly entered the game and his trademark runs up and down the left flank and rocket shots on goal were absent throughout.

Despite claims from the player that he is in tip top shape, it's looking likely that he will be rested for Real's league encounter with Sevilla on Saturday making way for Raúl Bravo to assume defensive duties with the Merengues.
