The Brazilian defender will definitely miss Real's next two games, against Valencia in the Cup on Wednesday and away to Valladolid in the league on Sunday.
He should be ready to return for the opening leg of the Cup semi-final next week, assuming Real go on to complete victory over Valencia following their 3-0 win in the opening leg at the Bernabeu.
"He'll almost certainly be fit for the semi-finals if we make it through," Real doctor Juan Carlos Hernandez told reporters on Monday.
Real will probably still be without Zinedine Zidane for the Valencia game but the French midfielder should have recovered from his leg muscle strain in time for the match against Valladolid.
