Roberto Carlos about Ronaldo

With less than two weeks until La Liga commences, Real Madrid superstar Roberto Carlos held court for a preseason press conference, which resembled a sort of ‘state of the club address’.

The Brazilian world champ also chided his own organization as well as Inter Milan for dragging his compatriot Ronaldo through a messy transfer saga.

"There is still a long way before we kick off, but we are fine, we have some time to prepare," reported Roberto Carlos. "Our concern is the physical state, we must work on this aspect."

"On the other hand, when we have the ball at our feet, we know what to do with it, that is no problem, the tactics are clear for everybody."

"We have a big list of players available," he continued. "There have been no signings, but Tote, Fernando and some other valuable players have joined us as good reinforcements, so we can consider them as signings."

"You cannot sign megastars every day - When people talk about Real Madrid's signings, they always think of this type of players."

That type of player this summer has been Ronaldo and his buddy feels like the clubs in question have facilitated a raking over the media coals for the striker.

"They are damaging his reputation," alleged Roberto Carlos. "I cannot understand the media hype… He is a nice person."

"All I can say is that I cannot understand how a squad can possibly turn down a World Cup top scorer."
