River Plate president tells Real Madrid: £10M for Higuain

River Plate president Jose Maria Aguilar says Real Madrid must up their offer considerably if they're to land teenage striker Gonzalo Higuain.
 
Real have offered £5 million for the Argentine, but Aguilar is seeking closer to £10 million for the player after speaking with the Spanish club's director Franco Baldini yesterday.

"The offer from Real Madrid for Higuain is far from the expectations of our club," he said. "We would like that he stayed, unless an offer arrives that is truly irresistible."

"But so far Real Madrid have in no way suggested they are willing to do this."

On his meeting with Baldini, Aguilar added, "He has not said anything new, it was a warm conversation as what happens with football people, but he has not changed the direction of this situation."

"We are deeply sorry that Higuain has this new personal expectation, but we understand it. The offer from Real Madrid has an effect that shocks the life of a boy of 18 years of age, but this offer is far from our valuation."
