Red Bull Salzburg escape for Real Madrid's Cassano

Red Bull Salzburg could rescue Antonio Cassano from his problems at Real Madrid.

Giovanni Trapattoni has recommended Cassano to Salzburg's flamboyant owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, and an approach could arrive at Real this week.

Salzburg are prepared to cover Cassano's present £2.75 million-a-year wages - but only if Real agree to grant him a free transfer.
