Real officials have already held talks with Zidane this week, but reportedly came away from Tuesday's meeting in Marseille disappointed.
Real president Florentino Perez is hoping that the influence of Zidane's Spanish wife, Veronique, will work in the Madrid club's favour.
Italian reports today suggest both Zidanes have grown tired of Turin life and are ready for a move.
Meanwhile, though Real plan to recoup much of the fee paid to acquire Zidane through merchandising, the club insists they only sign players for football reasons alone.
A club spokesman said, "I want to make it clear that when Real Madrid signs a player, it does so for only sport interests and not for economic interests."
Meanwhile, Italian reports suggest Real have already tabled an offer for Zidane. The Madrid giants have offered £11 million plus Claude Makelele and Michel Salgado.
