Real will see me at my best within a month, says Zidane

Real Madrid's world record signing Zinedine Zidane said he would be back near the peak of his form in the next month after another low-key performance in his first match at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

The French international, who moved from Juventus for $66 million last month, showed a few neat touches without coming close to his best before being substituted after 71 minutes of the Spanish Super Cup second leg clash with Real Zaragoza.

After Zidane's departure, Real took the game by the scruff of the neck and Raul scored three times in the last 15 minutes to clinch a 3-0 win, 4-1 on aggregate, and give the Spanish champions their first title of the season.

"The Bernabeu is huge, great," said Zidane, who had never played at the 75,000 capacity stadium before Wednesday. "It's a highly impressive place."

"Little by little, I'm improving and I hope that in 15 days to a month people will see the best Zidane."

Real's performance against Zaragoza was their best of a poor pre-season programme and the players and coach are confident ahead of their opening league game against Valencia on Saturday.

"Maybe this game was not the most important of the season," said hat-trick hero Raul. "But this will give is a lot of confidence and improve our morale for the games to come."

Coach Vicente del Bosque added: "We finished last season winning the league and we've started this season winning another title."

"There's no better way of gaining confidence."
