Real to play Anderlecht in pre-season Bernabeu trophy

Real Madrid will host Belgian champions Anderlecht in the annual Santiago Bernabeu trophy on Aug 23, the Primera Liga club said on Thursday.

The traditional curtain-raiser for Real's season will allow fans an early look at the team being constructed under new president Ramon Calderon.

So far the club have appointed Fabio Capello as coach and brought in Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro, Brazil midfielder Emerson and Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The nine-times European champions beat a Major League Soccer (MLS) All-Star team 5-0 in last year's game.
