Real Sociedad reveal Real Madrid approach for Xabi

Real Sociedad have confirmed that Real Madrid have made an approach for midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Sociedad spokesman Jose Luis Barrenetxea revealed yesterday: "This isn't as clear as some are making out."

"The interest of Real Madrid is certain. But there are still many meetings and arrangements ahead of us to reach a conclusion."

Barrenetxea added that no other club had asked about Xabi, apart from Real Madrid.
