Real Madrid will not be adding any new signings to the squad this summer despite recent rumours of a planned swoop for Lazio's Alessandro Nesta.

Real chief Vicente Del Bosque denied on Wednesday that he had requested reinforcements in defence as back-up for veteran Fernando Hierro.

The decision comes about primarily because the club is only disposed to sign 'star' players and will not rush into the market before inscriptions for the Champions League close on Friday just for the sake of signing an extra player.

Del Bosque feels that his squad is large enough to cover any gaps left by first-team players who find themselves injured, suspended or out of form.

For the same reason, the club will not be selling off any players from its squad other than non-regulars Alberto Rivera, Javier Dorado and Edwin Congo.

Real have entered the transfer market just once this summer, breaking the world record to sign Zinedine Zidane from Juventus for $66million.
