AC Milan's hopes of luring Michel Salgado to the San Siro have been dented by the news that Real Madrid are keen to extend the Spanish international's summer-expiring deal.

The offensive-minded right-back was one of the brightest stars of Real's 4-2 victory at home to Marseille on Tuesday, and the capital club's president Florentino Perez reportedly congratulated the 28-year-old in person and agreed a date to begin contract renewal talks.
