Real's Salgado out for two weeks with calf strain

Defender Michel Salgado has joined Real Madrid's lengthening injury list after tests revealed he had suffered a calf strain that will sideline him for about two weeks.

Salgado sustained the injury early in the second half of Real's 4-0 King's Cup victory over Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.

The club has no shortage of right backs, however, with new signing Cicinho and Uruguay's Carlos Diogo both able to fill in for the Spanish international.

Six other Real players, including Ronaldo, Raul, Roberto Carlos and Jonathan Woodgate are receiving treatment, while new signing Antonio Cassano is following a specialist training programme to regain his fitness.

Real, who are sixth in the Primera Liga, 13 points adrift of leaders Barcelona, host seventh-placed Sevilla on Sunday.
