Real's Robinho defends Luxemburgo's tactics

Brazilian forward Robinho has rallied to the defence of Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo's tactics following the Primera Liga club's poor start to the season.

Luxemburgo prefers his side to play through the middle of the pitch, with the full backs expected to provide the width in a 4-2-2-2 sytem.

A 2-1 win over promoted Cadiz, during which newly arrived Robinho excelled on the opening day of the season, was followed by a 3-2 home defeat by another promoted side Celta Vigo last weekend.

On Tuesday Real were hammered 3-0 by Olympique Lyon in their first game in the Champions League.

"Vanderlei has won a lot with this system. We are still getting used to it but we will soon adapt and get much better," Robinho told a news conference on Thursday.

"He is relaxed and understands the criticism but the league has only just started and the new players still have to settle in. We are doing what he asks of us and he is confident in his system."

Real travel to Barcelona to play Espanyol in the Primera Liga on Sunday.
