Real's McManaman: Barcelona clashes far bigger than Merseyside derbies

Steve McManaman says contests between Real Madrid and Barcelona generate far greater atmosphere than Merseyside derbies.

The former Liverpool favourite, who is actually an Everton supporter, is expected to play a key role in this week's clash between the two Spanish rivals.

"There is a huge difference between the two games," said McManaman.

"In the Nou Camp there are almost 100,000 spectators and the atmosphere that you experience cannot be compared with the Liverpool games."

McManaman admitted international week was affecting Real's preparations for the big game.

"The truth is that the preparation for this Barcelona-Real Madrid game has been a little unusual because there are no players at training."

"It will be important that they arrive in good shape."
