Real's Helguera Gives Beckham Welcome -- and Warning

David Beckham may be one of the most skilful players in the world but he could still have problems adapting to his new team Real Madrid, the club's center back Ivan Helguera said on Saturday.

"He (Beckham) has the best touch in the world," Helguera told a news conference on Saturday. "He can bring a lot of things to the side but he will have to adapt to the team and that isn't easy, just ask (Zinedine) Zidane and Ronaldo."

"He will have to adapt to Madrid and all that comes with it and little by little we will have to see what Beckham can offer the team."

Beckham signed for Real from Manchester United for 35 million euros earlier this week and will arrive in Madrid on July 1 for a medical.

The midfielder will be presented to the media the following day and will hook up with his new team mates at the end of July to prepare for their pre-season tour to China and Japan.

Real will clinch the 29th league title in their history if they beat Athletic Bilbao in the final match of the season on Sunday.

But a defeat or draw could hand the title to Real Sociedad if they win their final league match at home to Atletico Madrid.
