Real rule out move for Ronaldinho

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has ruled out any move for Brazilian Ronaldinho following the signing of England captain David Beckham and Argentine international centre-back Gabriel Milito.

"The business of buying new players has now been closed and that's for sure," Perez told reporters on Wednesday in response to questions about a possible bid for the Paris St Germain forward.

"Milito's signing... means that Ronaldinho will not be coming to Real Madrid this year," said Perez. Milito, who is reported to be joining Real for a fee of between $3.5 and four million from Argentine side Independiente, fills the gap left by club captain Fernando Hierro who was discarded at the end of last season.

New coach Carlos Queiroz was reported to have been delighted by the club's decision to strengthen its much-maligned defence.

"He (Milito) is a great signing," the former Manchester United assistant coach told sports daily Marca. "He is an excellent distributor of the ball and is a real battler. He is quick, skilful and strong."

Real said that the 22-year-old Argentine would travel to Madrid at the end of next week where he will undergo a medical and then be presented to the media.
