Real reject Morientes bid

Tottenham's £15.8million offer for Fernando Morientes has been turned down by Real Madrid, according to Spanish newspapers.

The sports daily As says Spurs' chairman Daniel Levy tabled the bid during a three-hour meeting at Madrid's stadium on Tuesday.

The paper said Real would only consider an offer of around £18.9million for Morientes, who played up front for Spain in the World Cup finals.

The striker was expected to be sacrificed if Real Madrid signed Ronaldo.

However, Morientes' place at Madrid appears safer after Ronaldo's agent said the Brazilian would see out his contract with Inter Milan.
