Real put McManaman up for sale - Reports

Arsenal have rejected the chance to sign Steve McManaman after the England winger was reportedly put up for sale by Real.

Reports in Spain are claiming the former Liverpool ace has been told he is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and has been put up for sale at £8million.

As well as Arsenal and his former club Liverpool, Real have reportedly touted the player's services to Leeds, Newcastle and Aston Villa following another summer of heavy investment in the Spanish capital.

Real have yet to confirm the reports but Vicente del Bosque did try to offload McManaman last summer, only for the player to pledge to stay at the Bernabeu and fight for his first-team place.

However, the world record £48million signing of Zinedine Zidane from Juventus has further restricted McManaman's first-team prospects.

He may have to leave if he is to keep his international ambitions alive ahead of next summer's World Cup finals.
