Real prepared to be patient in negotiations for Robben

Real Madrid are prepared to be patient in their attempts to sign Dutch international Arjen Robben from Chelsea, president Ramon Calderon said on Wednesday.

"The player has already signalled his interest, but there is no agreement with Chelsea," Calderon told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

"It's a negotiation that will continue over the following days or weeks, and if the situation is right economically, he is a player who could join us."

Calderon pledged to sign winger Robben when he was elected Real president last year.

The Real chief also spoke of the club's interest for Feyenoord's promising young left back Royston Drenthe, though he admitted the discussions were still in the early stages.

The Spanish champions, who appointed Bernd Schuster to replace the sacked Fabio Capello as coach, have already signed two centre-backs in Christoph Metzelder and Pepe, and Argentine striker Javier Saviola in the close season.
