Real postpone Milito presentation, await further tests

Real Madrid postponed the presentation of Argentine centre-back Gabriel Milito on Friday, saying they needed to carry out further medical tests before the player's move from Independiente could go through.

Milito arrived in Madrid on Friday after playing in Argentina's 2-2 draw with Uruguay and underwent a medical conducted by club doctor Alfonso del Corral.

Real said in a statement that the player would need further tests but made no mention of any specific problem.

Real have agreed a fee of around $4 million for the transfer of Milito. He is seen by Real as the long-term successor to 35-year-old centre-back Fernando Hierro, who was told his contract would not be renewed at the end of last season.
