Real plan huge summer sales

Real Madrid are planning to cut down their huge squad this summer in the hope of injecting money to finance at least two top name signings.

Club chairman Florentino Perez is attempting to claw back over $US 100m by offloading a number of players who will not figure in the first team next season.

At least eight Real stars will find themselves at other clubs by September if Perez's proposal goes to plan.

Flavio Concecaio will be sold if either Zinedine Zidane or Gaizka Mendieta sign for Real in the close season and may even be used in part exchange as he is valued at over $US 20m.

Savio Bortolini will also leave if Real receive a generous offer although the player is digging his heels in saying that he wants to complete his contract.

Defenders Michel Salgado and Geremi Fotso are also to be put on the transfer market with both players expected to attract bids from other clubs in the region of $US 10m.

Salgado is being tracked by several Italian clubs and Valencia are interested in signing him to cover for Jocelyn Angloma while Benfica and Cheslea have been linked with moves for Geremi.

Julio Cesar and Ivan Campo could be going for $US 5m each despite the club demanding $US 10m from Athletic Bilbao for Campo's services last week.

However, Esteban Cambiasso would probably be the most surprising departure over the summer after being linked with a big-money move to Bayern Munich.

The-20-year-old midfielder has spent the last two seasons on loan at Argentinian side Independiente de Avellaneda.
