Real Madrid midfielder Pablo Garcia will be sidelined for up to six weeks after tests on Monday showed he had a partial tear of the lateral ligament in his left knee.
Garcia, who had only recently recovered from a muscle strain, will miss both legs of Real's Champions League knockout tie against Arsenal. The club said he was not expected to return to action before the end of March.
The 28-year-old Uruguay international, who joined Real last July from Osasuna, sustained the injury during his side's 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao at the weekend after a challenge from striker Ismael Urzaiz.
The win helped third-placed Real close the gap on leaders Barcelona to seven points.
Real play Arsenal at home on Feb. 21 and the return leg is on March 8.
