Real Madrid won't sell Raul, insists Valdano

Real Madrid sports chief Jorge Valdano insists the club would never consider selling Raul.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson described the Spanish attacker as "the best player in the world" last month, while AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has admitted he'd try to bring Raul to Italy in the future.

Raul has two years left on his current contract and Valdano knows he must begin talks about a new deal soon.

"If money is offered for a player that Real Madrid no longer requires, then we will consider it," Valdano told Marca.

"But if Real Madrid want to keep the player, then no amount of money in the world will force the club to sell."

"Raul is a symbol for Real Madrid and can break all records for this club. His contract caps the wage ceiling here and we have no problem with his contract situation because we know he wants to stay here."
