Real Madrid win race for Brazilian star Robinho

Real Madrid have trumped Atletico Madrid and Chelsea for Santos wing wizard Robinho.

AS says the Brazilian international has agreed to join Real at the end of this season after talks on Saturday.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez met with Robinho's agent, Wagner Ribeiro, on Friday to register his interest in the youngster. Negotiations continued the following day, with the meeting also being attended by intermediaries Juan Figger and Luis Douens.

The summit was held at 12:30pm and later in the evening Ribeiro emerged to declare: "He can come to Real Madrid. A dream for him is to play in a great club of Europe and Madrid is that."

"Florentino Perez has said to me that he is a talent. The approach of positions between the parties was more than positive."

Real have secured first option on the player's behalf, with negotiations still needed with Santos to seal the deal.
