Real Madrid will speak with Figo over new deal

Real Madrid will not open new contract talks with Luis Figo until next March.

The Portugal international stunned media in Japan yesterday when declaring his lawyer had been told that Real had no intention of opening new contract talks.

However, Marca says with Figo still having almost two years left on his present deal, Real do not consider his re-signing a priority and won't offer him new terms until near the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Figo revealed: "The last bit of information my lawyer has is that the club does not intend to extend my contract and, in this case, in December I will have to consider my future.

"I will try to do my best for Madrid, as I have done so until now."
