Real Madrid will not sell Munitis

Real Madrid Sports Manager Jorge Valdano said on Thursday that striker Pedro Munitis will not be up for sale this summer to pay for new signings.

Munitis who arrived at the Bernabeu from Racing Santander just over a year ago has hardly figured in the first eleven this season raising questions about his future at the club.

But Valdano has put the player's mind at rest saying on Thursday: "He's not for sale. We are happy with the work he has done this year and we hope that he will be one of the key figures in the team of the future".

The player's agent, Javier Gonzalez was at the Bernabeu offices on Wednesday to listen to Real Madrid's plans for Munitis, bearing in mind the few minutes he has clocked up on the pitch since last September.

Gonzalez said afterwards: "Valdano has told us that he and the techical staff are satisfied with Pedro and that he will not be put on the market. Pedro has always said that his plan is to complete his contract here and hopefully enjoy many successful seasons. Now all that remains is for him to get a regular place in the side".
