Real Madrid Will Fight For The Title - Guti

Spanish midfielder, Guti, has said that Real Madrid will fight for the La Liga title this season, and that the bad results have been due to the number of injuries they have had.

With the Christmas break coming to an end, Real Madrid are preparing to try and launch an unlikely assault on La Liga again.

The defending champions are currently twelve points adrift of the leaders Barcelona, but speaking to Gaceta de los Negocios today, midfielder Guti said they will fight for the title.

"We know that we will fight for the league title and for the Champions League at the end of the season, as we always do," he declared.

However, Real Madrid will need to perform an amazing comeback if they are to keep their crown in Spain, while in Europe they will need to overcome Premier League leaders, Liverpool.

Los Blancos have already signed reinforcements though, with Lassana Diarra and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar brought in alongisde Dani Parejo, who returned from Queens Park Rangers on loan.

This could well be important, bearing in mind the amount of injuries they have suffered from so far, and Guti attributes some of their failings to the crocked players.

"I think that we are getting bad results because of the large number of injuries that we are getting," he mused.

Nevertheless, the champions will need to fight on, and having seen most things before, Guti's experience could be key. He spoke briefly today about his past at the club, saying that he has 'rarely' felt not loved, but when he has, he has known how to solve it.

"Whenever I felt that way I would think things through and look at my Madrid stuff, and how anxious I was to make it big here made me stay. It has always been very important for me to be near my family," he concluded.
